Unfortunately for the Detroit Lions Eli Harold Jersey , there are multiple reasons for their poor 3-5 start to the 2018 season. While the defense has probably been the worst offender, both the offense and special teams share plenty of blame in Detroit’s five losses this year. Inside those units, just about every position has failed at some point this season, whether it be the quarterback, the secondary, the offensive and defensive lines, running backs, linebacker. You name it Ricky Wagner Jersey , and at some point the players have cost the team dearly. However, some of these struggles could have been predicted. We knew the personnel on the defense wasn’t all that good, especially in that front seven. So today’s Question of the Day has to do with expectations not meeting reality. Which Detroit Lions unit has been most disappointing thus far? My answer: To me, there’s absolutely no question: it’s the secondary. In the offseason, Lions fans tended to overrate the secondary based on the play of their top defensive backs. Admittedly, Darius Slay, Quandre Diggs and Glover Quin entered the season at the top of their game. However, the play of the Lions’ secondary has been nothing short of a disaster ever since the moment after Diggs took the first defensive play of the season for a pick-six. Detroit has proven that it has little talent at cornerback outside of Slay. Nevin Lawson and Teez Tabor have been getting routinely embarrassed on a week-to-week basis. But nothing has been more disappointing Anthony Zettel Jersey , and quite frankly depressing, than watching Glover Quin, one of the most beloved defensive playmakers on the team, take a clear and obvious step back. It appears Father Time is finally catching up to Quin, and his electric reaction time has already fallen victim to age. Right now, the Lions rank 30th in passer rating allowed (112.5) and 29th in yards per attempt allowed (8.5) and they have just three interception on the year (29th). Last season, this unit was fourth in interceptions, but it appears opposing quarterbacks have figured out that if you simply look away from Slay Miles Killebrew Jersey , you can complete passes all day.Your turn. Running back Theo Riddick will be among the seven Detroit Lions players listed as inactive for the team’s Week 7 match up against the Miami Dolphins. The running back missed much of this week’s practice with a knee injury. With Theo sidelined, that means that Ameer Abdullah is active and may have a shot at being more than just a kick returner for the Lions. Also inactive is Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, who was officially downgraded to “Out” yesterday due to the shoulder injury that he suffered Week 1. Ansah has still not played since he left the Lions’ opening game against the Jets in the first half. Inactives also include Kerry Hyder Jr., Brandon Powell and newly signed corner back Lenzy Pipkins. Running back Kerryon Johnson, who suffered an ankle injury against the Green Bay Packers, is active for the game. Guard T.J. Lang will be active as well after he missed time with a concussion. Miami will be without two important offensive pieces. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is set to miss another game after picking up a shoulder injury last week. Brock Osweiler is set to replace Tannehill for the second straight week. Wide receiver DeVante Parker will be absent as well as he is missing time with a broken finger.
