Jaguars stand firm at the top of the AFC South The Jacksonville Jaguars hold firm in first place of the AFC South after their impressive victory over the New England Patriots. The rest of the division on Sunday looked... not so impressive. Lets take a spin around the AFC South and see how the rest of the division is shaking out.Houston Texans 17 www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com , Tennessee Titans 20I went back and watched the 30-minute cut up of this game and buddy,,,,,, I wish I hadn’t. This was an abysmal game to watch and both teams just look bad. The Texans offensive line is awful and Deshaun Watson has no shot most of the time and they can’t run the ball. The Titans started Blaine Gabbert and he competed a pass to himself and for a long stretch of the game had less passing yards than the 66-yard punt fake touchdown the Titans ran. Houston moves to 0-2 and are now a long shot to make the playoffs while the Titans limp to 1-1 and into TIAA Bank next week.Indianapolis Colts 21, Washington 9The Colts picked up a nice win on the road and their defense showed up against a timid Alex Smith, but even with the three-score win, I’m still not buying the Colts as a threat this season. Andrew Luck hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been great either and is far from what he was a few years ago. He’s completing a bunch of short passes and still turning the ball over. They were able toget pressure on Smith and shut down the Washington run game, but I’m not buying this as some show of the Colts aren’t actually a dumpster of a roster because they definitely are.Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars series history: Divisional rivals through and through The TennesseeTitans were a constant thorn in the side of the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. Despite Jacksonville’s surprising success, the Titans owned the Jags in 2017. The AFC South rivals are plenty familiar with each other, and each team often wins one game a piece in the season series. Sunday’s matchup will be the 48th all-time matchup (including playoffs). Like we do every week Jacksonville Jaguars Womens T-Shirt , let’s review the head-to-head history in this closely contested series. Series historyAll-time regular season series record: Titans lead 26-20Postseason Record: Titans lead 1-0 Last Jaguars win: Dec. 24, 2016 (38-17)Last Titans win: Dec. 31, 2017 (15-10)Current Streak: Titans with two wins Biggest Jaguars win: 37-7 (Nov. 5, 2006)Biggest Titans win: 41-14 (Dec. 26, 1999)Interesting takeaway: Last season was the first time since 2008 that the Jaguars and Titans didn’t split a season series. In fact, there have been 16 seasons where the two franchises have split the series. Quick thoughts: The first four matchups in series history actually placed the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Houston Oilers before the franchise relocated, and the two teams split with two wins each. Fast forward to 2018, and it’s now been nearly 21 months since the Jaguars have topped their rival. Blake Bortles has a career record of 3-5 against the Titans, with nearly 62 percent completion rate, 13 touchdown passes, six interceptions and a rating of 88.5. He also has a touchdown reception against Tennessee. Neither team was really able to get much going offensively on an extremely cold night in Nashville. The only offensive touchdown of the game came in the second quarter when Marcus Mariota found Derrick Henry on a 66-yard screen pass. Yannick Ngakoue gave the Jaguars life with a 67-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Jags weren’t able to score the rest of the game. Jacksonville was -3 in turnover margin. Bortles threw two interceptions and lost a fumble, and the defense was perhaps gassed from spending too much time on the field. The Titans jumped out to a 23-3 lead with 2:49 left in the third quarter and didn’t look back from there. Derrick Henry rushed for 92 yards and a score, and was a big factor in the Titans’ win. Jacksonville was -2 in turnover margin. Series By Decade: 1990s: Series tied 5-5 in the regular season and Titans lead 1-0 in playoffs (1999-2000 season)2000-2010: Titans lead 13-9 2011-Present: Titans lead 8-6Quick thoughts: This has been a close series throughout. The Jaguars entered league competition in 1995 Jacksonville Jaguars Womens Hoodie , and the Jags and Titans split the series with five games a piece in the 1990s. Tennessee dominated from 2000 to 2010, with 13 wins, including a five-game winning streak from 2001 to 2003. The Titans hold the slight advantage since 2011 (thanks to the 2017 season), but once again, sweeps have been rare in the past several seasons. Heading into the first regular season matchup of 2018, Tennessee is hurting right now. Mariota was active, but didn’t play in Week 2. He remains questionable. Both starting tackles, Taylor Lewan and Jack Conklin, also missed Week 2. That could be a serious issue against Jacksonville’s pass rush. So, will the Jaguars be able to continue their 2018 momentum and beat the Titans for the first time in nearly two years?
