While Cruz led Puerto Rico in its first EVER Olympic volleyball match at Maracan?zinho, Murphy put on a show for Team USA, ranked No. 1 in the world entering the Olympics, to lead the Americans to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-17) sweep over Puerto Rico to open group play.Murphy provided a spark in the first frame with a team-best six points, and finished the day tied atop the USA box score with 14 points on 13 kills and a block as Team USA hit a staggering .466 in the match. Puerto Rico challenged USA in the second with a 19-17 lead before Team USA pulled away en route to the eventual sweep.
