The Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday promoted Kyle Dubas Cheap Jaire Alexander Jersey , who at 32 becomes one of the NHL’s youngest general managers.
Dubas joined the team as assistant general manager in 2014. He is an advocate of analytics and succeeds 75-year-old Lou Lamoriello.
Lamoriello shifted to the role of senior adviser last month. Most expected President Brendan Shanahan to choose Dubas or Mark Hunter, another assistant GM with the team.
The Maple Leafs set franchise records for points (105) and wins (49) this season but were eliminated in seven games by Boston in the first round of the playoffs.
Dubas was responsible for player personnel, the farm system and research and development. He was general manager of the team’s AHL affiliate. The Toronto Marlies were AHL regular-season champions for second time in three years.
In Dubas’ four seasons as Marlies general manager Yu Darvish Jersey , the affiliate developed eight players on the current Maple Leafs roster: Connor Brown, Connor Carrick, Travis Dermott Cheap Dorian O'Daniel Jersey , Zach Hyman, Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen Larry Doby Jersey , Josh Leivo and William Nylander.
The Maple Leafs have gone young before in the front office. In 1988, Gord Stellick became the league’s then-youngest general manager at 30.
John Chayka became the youngest general manager in NHL history in May 2016 when, at 26 Cheap Antonio Callaway Jersey , he was promoted by the Arizona Coyotes.
